Kamalani Playground closing for upgrades

WAILUA — The county Department of Parks and Recreation announced that Kamalani Playground at Lydgate Park will be closed starting Monday for the installation of safety upgrades.

The playground will be closed until upgrades are be completed by the estimated date of January 2020, weather permitting.

The scope of work for the $215,000 project, contracted by Pacific Recreation Co. LLC, includes preparation of the existing playground area for installation of new safety surfacing, said a county press release.

    Please someone explain why it’s taking 5 months to do only $215,000 worth of work. Our parks are so poorly maintained and managed and this is just another example. Why can’t this be done in 2 months? Sad our keiki can’t play because our leaders are so worthless.
