Escaped inmate back in custody

LIHUE — Kauai police on Wednesday apprehended 21-year-old Isaiah Pongasi-Adric who escaped from Kauai Community Correctional Center on Sunday night.

Pongasi-Adric was located at a residence in Anahola about 9 a.m. He surrendered to police without incident, and was arrested for escape in the second degree and on two criminal contempt of court warrants, according to a county press release.

Pongasi-Adric was booked at Lihue Police Cellblock before being transferred back to the custody of the state Department of Public Safety.

Kauai police continue to search for Jeffrey Kelekoma Jr. who also escaped from KCCC on Sunday.

Kelekoma Jr. is 37 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall, and weighs 220 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information on Kelekoma Jr.’s whereabouts is urged to call Police Dispatch at 241-1711. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers Kaua‘i at 246-8300.

    Half the local dudes on this island are in the wind with the cops looking for them. No worries. He will tick somebody off, and they will drop a dime to the five-oh for where he is.

    Maybe it’s time for an overhaul of that cute little property they call a correction center. Criminals these days aren’t like in the 70’s.
