LIHUE — County of Kauai officials are monitoring Hurricane Erick and Hurricane Flossie as they continue to move west toward the islands, and are reminding residents and visitors to get prepared and stay informed.
“As we all continue to closely monitor these two approaching storms, now is the time to start preparing,” said Mayor Derek S. K. Kawakami. “Weather forecasts are very helpful, but can change quickly. It is important to remind our residents and visitors to stay vigilant and informed on updates as they develop.”
Kauai Island Utility Cooperative is closely tracking the movements of Hurricanes Erick and Flossie, and has activated its emergency preparedness plan.
“Although we are not in a storm watch or warning at this time, our staff is ready to respond should conditions change, and in the event that we experience weather impacts from these storms,” stated KIUC’s President and Chief Executive Officer, David Bissell.
Knowing the reputation of Bissel, I’ll bet he’ll take this opportunity of the approaching storms to blame it on mother nature for all his excuses and incompetence of mismanaging Kauai’s power generation service. It is not a defective cable, then blame it on the storm.
