HANALEI — The Department of Parks and Recreation has implemented new rules for after-hours use of Weke Boat Ramp.
DOPR is implementing a permit process for the recreational use of the Weke Boat Ramp between 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
For recreational boaters wishing to sign up for a permit, bring the following documents and information with you to the Hanalei Neighborhood Center at 5:30 p.m. Thursday:
Boat and trailer registration; boater education card; Vessel number; and trailer license plate number.

Yet another in long and growing line of useless rules and hoops to jump through. Really, who is going to check permits at the boat ramp at night? The mayor?
If it’s being implemented at one boat ramp it would then be needed at all boat ramps right? So, this rule makes it look like you are favoring nearby Hanalei home owners who don’t want the activity in their area. Are you? Can’t think of any other reason this would be put in place. Limiting our local fisherman of access is ridiculous. You have a hidden agenda? Figure it out and don’t make up rules that are not fair, equal, and impartial.
