LIHUE — Kuhio Highway fronting McDonald’s in Lihue was closed for about half an hour on Thursday morning after a man crossing the highway was struck by a vehicle.
A 62-year-old Anahola man is still at Wilcox Medical Center Friday night, where he’s being treated for injuries to his head and leg.
The 77-year old Kapaa man driving the Ford van that hit the pedestrian did not report any injuries.
The pedestrian apparently wasn’t in a marked crosswalk, said Kim Tamaoka, KPD spokeswoman.
Names of the victim or driver have not been released.
I saw a Vampire once commented on June 9, 2019 to overhead walk way needed. “Maybe they didn’t see each other.”
So, yesterday’s (Friday/June 21th(first day & longest day of summer), “they didn’t see each other.” Right, I saw a Vampire once!
Correction: The pedestrian was NOT crossing the highway. Rather, he stepped in front of the white van (from the driver’s right side) just a moment before the driver of the van began to accelerate from the McDonald’s parking lot onto the highway. The driver did not see the pedestrian. I witnessed the accident (and provided the police with a brief statement). This is just another example of how the news media gets parts of stories wrong. Readers beware.
I saw a Vampire once. What same comment as on June 9th to TGI letter, “Overhead walkway needed?”
