HANAPEPE — Park officials on Tuesday discovered the men’s restroom of the Hanapepe Town Park comfort station vandalized and burned.
“It is concerning that anyone would vandalize and burn a comfort station that is so widely used by the community,” said Director of Parks and Recreation Patrick Porter. “We are hoping the public can assist in providing any information to the Kauai Police Department regarding this incident.”
DOPR staff are assessing damages, and the restroom is closed until further notice.
To accommodate the hundreds of patrons who visit the weekly Sunshine Market at Hanapepe on Thursdays as well as Friday Art Night, the County of Kauai is installing portable toilets.
An investigation continues.
To report suspicious activity, please call Police Dispatch at 241-1711. Those wishing to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers Kauai at 246-8300.
Those Dang visitors and tourists! Can you say Ghetto?
Time to put cameras at our comfort stations? Cameras cheaper than police.
The perpetrators of the “concerning” vandalism is a complex issue…..
So, isn’t it interesting that the County Parks are going to privately contract a porta potty company to dump off a smelly horrible, non ADA COMPLIANT unit that defaces the beauty and insults the Community….
We know how this is going to end….
What is wrong with you effing a-holes. Your mama not slap you into shape? You are costing all tax payers, with your asinine selfish but idiot actions. Anyone with information: turn this donkeys in!
