Fatal crash victim identified

KAPAHI — Dean Ikaika Brown Aiwohi of Kapaa was identified Monday as the 34-year-old man who died Saturday morning following a traffic crash on Kawaihau Road, near the Kainahola Road intersection, in Kapahi.

According to a preliminary investigation, Brown Aiwohi was heading east on Kawaihau Road at roughly 10:20 a.m. on a motorcycle when he apparently lost control, crossed the center line, and struck an oncoming Nissan pickup truck.

The motorcyclist was presumed dead at the scene, and was later transported to Wilcox Hospital where he was formally pronounced dead.

The driver of the pickup truck was not hurt.

I hate how you left out the FACT that a car was reversing out of their driveway onto the road and didn’t see him which is why he swerved into the other lane!!! Please fix this!!! You have the island thinking he “lost control” but you left out the main reason why.
