HANAMA‘ULU — The Wastewater Management Division will perform additional smoke testing on its Waimea sewer collection system on Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., as well as its Hanapepe sewer collection system on Friday, from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The Waimea neighborhood includes Haina Road, Kala‘i Onamanu Street, Keolewa Street, Keahi Road, Hahai Street and Hahai Place. The Hanapepe Heights neighborhood includes Moi Road, Kane Road, Ali‘i Road, Eleu Road, Mokihana Road, Koko Road and Ahi Road.
The smoke testing performed in Waimea on Monday, June 3, was performed faster than anticipated. This allows the Division to perform additional smoke testing on its sewer collection system.
Smoke testing uses a non-toxic smoke and is helpful in identifying areas where infiltration/inflow (storm water entering the sewer main) is occurring. The tests will consist of about 20 minutes of work at each manhole.
