LIHUE — Kauai Keller Williams Realtors and staff took the day off and, as a result, the YWCA of Kauai was presented with an award of $10,096.77 during the Keller Williams team meeting Tuesday.

The funds were from the group’s annual “Renew, Energize and Donate” golf tournament on May 10 at the Hokuala Ocean Course.

The tournament featured more than 75 golfers as well as a silent auction and luncheon.

“This is something we do every year,” said Don Kolenda, KW Kauai team leader.

“We take the day off for one day and put our efforts back into helping the community.

“We’ve built houses for the Kauai Habitat for Humanity, helped other community nonprofit groups and, this year, the RED Golf Tournament generated more than $10,000 for the YWCA of Kauai,” Kolenda said.

Thank you, Keller Williams Team, for making a needed difference in this important organization that creates a safety net on our island. The YWCA needs extra support this year as the State has cut back on their support. Gratitude that the county has also worked to add half of the decreased state amount for our partner in Public Safety.
