Shayden Yamaguchi spins out a cotton candy while everyone stays clear of the flying strands downwind at the St. Catherine’s Carnival.

It’s here! The Kauai Visitor Industry Charity Walk kicks off Saturday with registration starting at 6:30 a.m. (roads start closing at 6:45 a.m.!) at the North Vidinha fields. Go visit Morgan Lopez, Chip Bahouth, Jacob Vogelgesang, and all those community leaders who help about 60 of Kauai’s nonprofit groups.

And the excitement continues as Kauai Community College hosts its graduation Friday evening starting at 6 p.m. at Vidinha Stadium …are we going to have Sarah Tochiki (she was doing a bunch of stuff this weekend, already) and the orchestra?

This is the same time as the Wally S. Yonamine Foundation, Hawaii High School Athletic Association baseball, Division II, state championship tournament that kicks off from Thursday with the championship game scheduled for Saturday evening … good luck to Waimea coach Chad Delanoza and the Menehune in its bid for the Division II crown.

This is definitely going to be a full weekend of activities, and don’t forget — Sunday is Mother’s Day!
