Police have identified the body of a man found dead on a cliffside in Waimea Canyon last week as Rodel Constantino, 30, of Kaumakani.
An autopsy revealed that Constantino died of blunt force trauma, consistent with a fall from a height, according to a statement from a Kauai County spokesperson, who said foul play is not suspected in the cause of his death.
A Kauai Police Department press release said Constantino’s body was discovered April 23. Police said officers were called to Waimea Canyon Drive, in the vicinity of mile marker 5.5, where a bystander who was scouting the area for goats observed a body about 200 feet below the cliff.
Due to the dangerous terrain and pending nightfall, emergency personnel were unable to gain access to the area that day.
Rescuers recovered the man’s body April 24.
