Dr. Brian Yamamoto of the Cogs program at Kauai Community College brings plant anatomy to a hands-on level by letting fifth-grade students from Kapaa Elementary School get a smell of an aromatic spice Thursday during the Ag Awareness and Environmental Day presented by the Kauai County Farm Bureau and the University of Hawaii College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources.

Bora (thank you, Aunty Patty!) is patient as Savannah Katulski of the University of Hawaii College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources works with a Kapaa Elementary School fifth-grade student in milking a goat Thursday during the 23rd, or 24th (?) Ag Awareness and Environmental Day.

Joni Ito (volunteer extraordinaire!) said nearly 400 fifth-grade students had a unique experience learning about agriculture and the environment during the 23rd, or 24th (who’s counting?) Ag Awareness and Environmental Day presented by the Kauai County Farm Bureau (they do more than the fair — it’s coming up in August! — and community markets!), and the University of Hawaii College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources at the Wailua Research Station (Randy Yokoyama was busy with the Elementary Science Olympiad at the Kauai Community College Saturday, too!).
