LIHUE — Mark Price, 56, of La Mesa, California, was sentenced Thursday to serve 10 years in prison for sexually assaulting a minor while visiting Kauai in May.
A police investigation revealed that while visiting Kauai with his wife, Price sexually assaulted a 10-year-old while the child was asleep.
Kauai police arrested and charged Price following an investigation led by former Kauai Police Department Detective Charles Dubocage. Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Keola Siu prosecuted the case.
Price pleaded no contest to sexual assault in the second degree, and was handed down the maximum 10-year sentence by Fifth Circuit Chief Judge Randal Valenciano.
“We are very grateful to everyone at KPD for their work on this case, and we are satisfied that the judge imposed a sentence that will ensure the protection of the public from this predator,” said Prosecuting Attorney Justin Kollar in a written statement Friday. “We are holding the victim in this case in our thoughts and hope that this sentence will bring a measure of closure.”
