LIHUE — Shioi Construction Inc. and its drywall and plaster division Creative Partition Systems announced four new hires: Kaulupono “Pono” Perez, project engineer; Cheryl Ribao, payroll administrator; Alicia Vea, safety coordinator; and Nicole Leyendeckers, CPS project assistant.

Perez, from Kauai and a graduate of Kamehameha Schools, most recently worked for a Las Vegas construction company. He is a civil engineering graduate from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Perez is working on new projects including Bank of Hawaii Lihue’s re-roofing; Foodland’s Princeville temporary storage; repairs at Kaiakea and Lihue fire stations; and the Kauai Medical Clinic Kapaa Clinic.

Ribao joined Shioi in October. She has over 17 years of experience in payroll, computing and reporting trust fund contributions, and payroll affidavits. Her human resource experience includes background checks, badging and employment verification.

Vea has also been at Shioi since October. She previously worked for seven years as a safety technician at Dow Agrosciences and 11 years as the safety sales representative for Airgas Kauai.

Leyendeckers also started with Creative Partition Systems in 2018 on Oahu as a project assistant and moved to the Kauai office in February. She worked previously with an electrical subcontractor on the mainland.

“We’re pleased to be growing with these top-notch new team members,” said Roy Shioi, president of Shioi Construction. “They are helping us provide our clients with the best possible service from engineering to administration, safety and project management.

“Folks like Pono, Cheryl, Alicia and Nicole have brought Shioi and CPS to where we are today, and they will take our company into the future as we build Hawaii,” added Shioi.

Shioi Construction Inc. and CPS recently completed work on the Timbers Resort at Hokuala, Kilauea Lighthouse Village, Island Country Market at the Coconut Marketplace, Servco’s Mapunapuna maintenance facility, Ewa Makai Middle School Phase II, and the American Savings Bank Kahala Mall branch renovation.

Shioi Construction, Inc. is one of the largest general contractors in Hawaii.

Shioi Construction has about 200 employees and has offices in Pearl City and Lihue.
