The B-Rad Foundation and Surfrider Foundation Kauai are hosting a cleanup at Kealia Beach today.
Cleanup starts at 10 a.m., then disperses to multiple spots along the coastal path. A luau will follow for volunteers at Kealia Store, with food, live music from Sashamon, and guest speakers including some of Kauai’s elite watermen and women, at 1 p.m.
The B-Rad Foundation was created in honor of Brad Parker. An avid surfer, rock climber, cyclist and yoga teacher, Parker, 36, was tragically killed in a fall while traversing Matthes Crest in Yosemite National Park on Aug. 16, 2014.
“Out of our collective grief emerged a new resolve to create a positive impact on our family, our community and our planet,” according to the B-Rad Foundation. “We have unified our efforts to create outstanding kids leadership programs and community-based environmental-stewardship projects on the Sonoma Coast and the island of Kauai.
“Join us as we celebrate Brad Parker’s life in pursuit of health and positive momentum.”
