Yukie-Lynn Nalani DeSilva

Yukie-Lynn Nalani DeSilva of Kapa’a passed away at Queen’s Medical Center on Jan. 26, 2019, at the age of 48. Born on Dec. 7, 1970, she was an Advertising Sales Assistant for The Garden Island Newspaper and also an active Crossfitter at Kaua’i CrossFit.

She is preceded in death by her father, Yukio Higashi. She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Kevin DeSilva; daughter, Moana (Chris) Baltazar; son, Dustyn (Michaela Manago) DeSilva; hanai son, Kalani Kahaunaele; mother, Olinda Higashi, two sisters, Maile (Jonah) Cummings and Anolani (Kelo Rivera) Higashi, five brothers, Gordon (Danice) Higashi; Alvin (Deborah) Higashi, Dean (Mel) Higashi; Blaine Kaneholani and Kenny (Kana Kaohi) Meatoga; In-Laws, Wayne and Rita DeSilva; brother-in-law, Travis (Lisa) DeSilva; and grandchildren, Cijay, Cyris, Christyn and Chloey Baltazar. She was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Alan and Shannon DeSilva and sister-n-law, Lynette Meatoga.

A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Anahola Beach Park. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. where services are to follow.

Dylan-Thomas Pomaika’i Dela Cruz

Dylan-Thomas Pomaika’i Dela Cruz, 24, of Lihue, passed away on Jan. 15, 2019, at the Straub Medical Center in Honolulu. He was born on Oct. 18, 1994, and was employed at Gaylord’s at Kilohana.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, MacArthur Dela Cruz and Jamie Moniz.

He is survived by his daughter, Teisha Dela Cruz; parents, Charlotte (Dennis) Gomez and Doren (Leah) Dela Cruz; sister, Kalani Kua’e Dela Cruz; brother, Darren Dela Cruz; half-sister, Maileah Moulton Dela Cruz; half brothers, Lucius and Zefiya Moulton Dela Cruz; stepbrothers, Nicolai and Kenai Moulton NakaahikI. Dylan is also survived by his grandparents, Linda Dela Cruz, Sharon (Larry) Duque, Lolita Moniz, Joseph (Julie) Taboniar; great-grandmother, Rosalina Arizo; as well as numerous uncles, aunties, and cousins.

A celebration of life will be held on Feb. 16, 2019, at the Aloha Church. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. with services to follow.

Shime Yamakawa

Shime Yamakawa, 90, of Koloa passed away on Jan. 28, 2019, at Hale Kupuna Heritage Home. He was born on May 5, 1928, in Waimea. He was retired as a factory supervisor from Olokele Sugar Company and also served in the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hisakichi and Shizuyo Kuratani Yamakawa; wife, Mitsue Yamakawa; brothers, Sueyoshi, Matsumi, Matsuyoshi, Hisashi; sisters, Hatsuyo Yamakawa, Hasuko Yamakawa, Mitsuyo Nomi, Umeno Ikari; grandson, Ryan Hajime Yamaakawa.

He is survived by his son, Rodney (Janice) Yamakawa of Honolulu; daughters, Lynn (Vernon) Fu of Koloa, Annette (Dave) Printers-Harris of Honolulu, Lorene Yoshimura-Tanigawa of Honolulu; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grand-children; 8 step-grand-children; 7 step-great-grand-children; sisters, Patsy Takeno Watanabe of Honolulu, Carole Akiko Yukihiro of Honolulu; numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019, at Kauai Veterans Cemetery pavilion in Hanapepe from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Services will be celebrated at 10:45 to 11:30 a.m. Inurnment to follow. Family suggests casual attire.

Dennis Ichiyo Oshiro

Dennis Ichiyo Oshiro, of Kapaa, passed away on Jan. 30, 2019. He was born on May 19, 1950.

He is preceded in death by his father, Susumu Oshiro; mother, Mitsue Rachel Oshiro and sister, Kathleen Nickens.

He is survived by his wife, Daunene “Dino” Oshiro; sons, Dan Kala Oshiro of Kapaa, Karl-Anthony La’akea Oshiro of Lihue, Poai Oshiro of Seattle, Washington; step-daughter, Chrissy Gorospe of Kapaa; sister, Karen Nakamura of Kalaheo; brothers, Nelson (Cheryl) Oshiro of Hanapepe, Keith Oshiro of Lihue; sister, Sheri-Lyn (Alton) Amimoto of Lihue; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019, at the Kauai Veteran’s Center in Lihue. Visitation with the family will begin at 9 a.m. with services to follow at 10 a.m.

Adelaide Marie Perreira Jacintho Ross

Adelaide Marie Perreira Jacintho Ross, 87, of Kalaheo, passed away on Jan. 30, 2019, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. Born on Sept. 16, 1931, in Waimea, Adelaide was an administrative secretary.

She is preceded in death by her parents; John and Theresa Perreira; husband, Adam Joseph Jacintho; husband, Laurence Matthew Ross; daughter, Gayle Annette Jacintho.

She is survived by her sons, Wayne (Nancy Dawson) Jacintho of Kalaheo, Bruce (Tracie) Jacintho of Kalaheo; daughter, Donna (Terry Okuno) Fu of Lawai; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; brother, Norman Perreira of Nevada; sisters, Delphine McCormick of Kalaheo, Lillian Jardin of Kalaheo; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019, at Holy Cross church in Kalaheo from 8:30 a.m. and services will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Family suggests casual attire.
