Acting Chief of Police Michael Contrades issued the following statement regarding Oka: “We are happy and relieved that Emi Oka is safe, and has been reunited with her family.”
Emi Oka was transferred to Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital in Kapaa for further treatment Thursday evening, where she will undergo further evaluation and stay for a few days to make sure her medication is working properly, Ivanka Oka said.
“I commend and thank all involved who have worked tirelessly in their search efforts this past week – Detective Barry DeBlake and our KPD investigators, our Kauai search and rescue volunteer canine team along with scent-tracking canine King, Kauai Coffee personnel, the Kauai Fire Department, and Oka’s family and friends,” said Contrades.
Contrades sent out an additional statement Thursday evening: “Again, we are grateful for our community members for their compassion and willingness to help someone else in need. We could not have found Emi without the help of these good Samaritans and the community members who provided other tips throughout this week.”
For a moment when the article mentioned “Police relieved by happy ending”, I thought you were talking about HPD and their infamous “happy endings” at the various massage parlors.
This is wonderful news!! But I did laugh at the heading 😉
Does anyone else find the title of this article a little comical?
The two police officers mentioned above are two of the scariest cops on island and possibly the state of Hawaii if not the United States.
Good Luck Kauai with those two and I hope you all have over a million dollars in life insurance just in case.

The warden at KCcC knows a lot about Happy Endings!!!!!!
Title is very funny! If it wasn’t for the two women being in the right place at the right time. KPD and all others wouldn’t have found Oka and it would have been a sad ending.
“Give credit where credit is due!”( the two women are the heroes) .
