Former police chief injured
Former Kauai Police Chief Darryl Perry was seriously injured in a bike accident over the weekend on the Big Island.
Perry, 68, was struck by a vehicle while bicycling near the intersection of Highway 11 and Kipimana Street about 8:30 a.m. Sunday.
According to a KHON2 report, a vehicle was executing a left turn onto Highway 11 when it struck Perry, who was later flown to Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu.
Perry, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, was in stable condition Thursday, according to the hospital.
“We appreciate all the calls and all the support we’ve received. Please continue to keep my husband in your prayers,” his wife, Solette Perry, said in a statement issued by Queen’s.
Too funny, when he was here he struck a PARKED CAR and got injured, to make matters worse, he sent the on duty officer to cite the car he struck!!
Cant wait to hear him explain this one was again the fault of the motorist.
Yet again, a bicyclist suffers sever injury due to the negligence of a car driver. Would you people driving please pay attention to what you are doing (i.e. get off the phone), be aware of others on the roadway, respect the law, and be courteous?
