Sunao ‘Nancy’ Kinoshita Pescador

On Friday night, Dec. 7, 2018, Sunao “Nancy” Kinoshita Pescador of Kapahi passed away at Wilcox Medical Center at the age of 97, just weeks away from what would have been her 98th birthday on Christmas Day.
She was preceded in death by father Suekichi Kinoshita, mother Eino Kawaguchi Kinoshita, husband Pedro Pescador, their daughter Caroline Fernandez, and siblings, Alice, Kiyoto, Misao, Isoo, Suezo, Harue and Yoshio.
She was born in Huleia Valley, Nawiliwili, on Dec. 25, 1920, where she grew up with her parents and 10 brothers and sisters on the family land in Halehaka known as “the lychee patch.” While working in the sugar cane fields, she met Pedro Pescador, who on May 18, 1938, became her husband. Together at their home in Kapahi, they raised their three children: Caroline, Pedro Jr. (Pete) and Benjamin.
She is survived by children Benjamin (Duanne) Pescador of Eleele and Pete (Judy) Pescador of Washington, sisters Tomie Kelekoma, Kathryn Oyama and Fujiko Yamamoto, 13 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren on Kauai and across the United States.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 19, at Garden Island Mortuary in Lawai, with visitation at 8:30 a.m. and service at 10 a.m.
