Lance Segawa, president and CEO of the Hawaii Health Systems Corp., Kauai Region, joins the Mahelona Hospital Auxiliary and Maintenance crews in celebrating the re-dedication of the Mahelona Hospital thrift shop, Monday morning.

Congratulations to Katy Matayoshi, Helga Efhan and the Mahelona Hospital Auxiliary on the rededication of the Mahelona Hospital thrift store! Hospital residents couldn’t wait to check out the offerings even before the refreshments, and who made those ono andagi?

Happy birthday to Dino Bandalion who said he was having a get-together with friends. He was disappointed Mayor Derek Kawakami missed the rededication because he wanted to let the mayor know about his birthday. Happy birthday, too, to Donald and Ronald Fujimoto!

Mayor was busy preparing for the opening of the legislature, but had time to visit with Fujisawa City Assembly councilman Mitsuro Miyato who was on island to scatter his father’s ashes on the island he loved.

Kudos to Edie Ignacio Neumiller, Darrellyn Lemke (even got to see Coach Bill Lemke and talk soccer), and all those Zonta Club of Kauai women on a great Heroine’s Song! Greg Askew of Ono Pops had a long day, starting out at the Kauai Community Market and stopping off at the concert before heading out to the Princeville Market the following day.

Kudos to Bob DeMonbrum, the founder of Vacations for Warriors, for not forgetting the tremendous support for the vacationing Wounded Warriors from the County of Kauai led by Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. during his tenure as mayor. DeMonbrum sent a special gift for the mayor via the Kauai Veterans Council and Lynn Aylward-Bingman, the Kauai Vacations for Warriors coordinator.
