Fireworks, music on New Year’s Eve

A New Year’s Eve celebration at Poipu Beach Park starts at 5 p.m. and will feature music, games and fireworks, all free courtesy of the Poipu Beach Resort Association and Koloa-Poipu-area businesses.

Fireworks start at 8:15, followed by a family movie.

Those attending should be prepared for limited parking. Bring lawn chairs and blankets.

The fireworks show hosted by PBRA is a long-standing New Year’s Eve tradition.

Fireworks and firecrackers may only be ignited on private property between 9 p.m. Dec. 31 through 1 a.m. Jan. 1.

The cost of a fireworks permit is $25, available through the Kauai Fire Department headquarters only, and applicants must be at least 18 years old.
