LAWAI — Police have identified the Lawai man who died after being struck by a vehicle on Kaumuali’i Highway in Lawai Wednesday morning as Takeshi Nakato, age 85.
LAWAI — Police have identified the Lawai man who died after being struck by a vehicle on Kaumuali’i Highway in Lawai Wednesday morning as Takeshi Nakato, age 85.
According to a preliminary investigation, the man was attempting to cross the highway shortly before 6 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 12 when he was struck by an eastbound Honda sedan fronting the Lawai 7-Eleven. A preliminary report revealed the man was apparently not walking in a marked crosswalk.
An autopsy is pending.
The investigation remains ongoing; however, speed and alcohol/drugs do not appear to be factors in this collision.
