The 38th Hawaii International Film Festival presented by Halekulani kicked off last week on Wednesday, with the Opening Reception and Opening Night film on Thursday.
The Korean cinema section this year is as strong at previous years with veteran actress and now director Moon Sori to be attending for latest film “The Running Actress,” where she will be making an appearance with a question-
and-answer scheduled after the screening.
Korean American musician Bobby Choy, aka Big Phony, will also be in town for HIFF for his directorial debut, “Fiction and Other Realities.”
The top Korean film picks for HIFF this year are “Last Child,” “The Running Actress,” “The Witch: Part 1,” and “Fengshui,” said Anna Page, director of programming for HIFF.
