LIHUE — The rain that’s moving in from the west of Kauai is just the beginning of the thunderstorms forecasted to move over Kauai and Oahu tonight and tomorrow.

The National Weather Service has already put out the word that a flash flood watch starts at 6 p.m. tonight for Kauai, with the potential of issuing warnings throughout tonight and Tuesday. Forecasters say there is a high potential of thunderstorms, especially for the north and northeast sides of the island with wind gusts up to 50 mph. Estimates on the amount of rainfall are still in the works and landslides are possible.

NWS recommends staying tuned to local media and being on the lookout for flash flood conditions.
