LIHUE — The Kauai County Committee on the Status of Women will be getting pink on purpose for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The public is invited to join the KCCSW for a Breast Cancer Awareness walk “Paint the Town Pink.” The event will be held on Wednesday starting at 11:30 a.m. at the Moikeha Building rotunda.
Warm-up will be led by Bev Brody with Get Fit Kauai. Then walkers will then head down Kuhio Highway to Wilcox Medical Center for light refreshments, then return to the rotunda.
Participants are encouraged to wear anything pink to show their support of those affected with breast cancer and to remind women of the importance of early detection. Participants should also wear comfortable walking shoes.
This year, KCCSW is partnering with American Cancer Society and Wilcox Medical Center.
Healthy refreshments will be provided after the walk at the Moikeha Building Rotunda.
The KCCSW is hosting the walk in recognition of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual international health campaign promoted by major cancer organizations.
The county will have a display of pink lights at the Historic County Building from today to Oct. 31.
