Martina Galla
Martina Galla, 86 years old, of Henderson, Nevada, passed away on Jan. 3, 2018, at St. Rose Dominican Hospital Siena Campus. Born on Dec. 20, 1931, in Bangui, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, she was a retired housekeeper with Wilcox Memorial Hospital.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Guillermo Galla.
She is survived by her daughter, Elisa (Dominick) Galla-Ferrer of Nevada; grandchildren, Joshua and Jordan Ferrer; great-grandchildren, Deegan and Kai Ferrer.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Sept, 29, 2018, at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. where Mass will be celebrated at 9:45 a.m. Inurnment to follow at Hanapepe Public Cemetery. Casual attire suggested.

Paulina L. Gonzales, 89 years old, of Kapaa, Kauai, passed away on Sept. 15, 2018, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. She was born on Feb. 7, 1929, in Waipahu, Oahu, she was a retired sales clerk.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. Gonzales and son, Robert E. Gonzales.
She is survived by her daughters, Beverly (Merle) Patnode of WA, Marilyn (Mark) Music of TX, Evelyn (Jim) Wasson of SC, Clarice (Michael) Callejo of Kapaa, Kauai; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Sally (Mac) Cabalo of Puhi, Kauai, Fely (Tino) Cabotaje of CA, Maggie (Sidney) Mission of Makaweli, Kauai; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, Oct. 5, 2018, at St. Catherine’s Church in Kapaa from 9 to 9:45 a.m. where Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. There will be a burial to follow at St. Catherine’s Church cemetery. Casual attire suggested.

Stewart Vine “Stu” Burley, 83, of Lawai, Kauai, passed away at home on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on Feb. 26, 1935, in Binghamton and retired from PMRF after 47 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Ku’uipo Gail Kaiwa Burley, his parents, Dexter Vine Burley and Margaret Robbins Stewart Burley; brother, Richard A. Burley of Phoenix, AZ. ; in-laws, Edward Baba and Ida Kaiwa of Kekaha.
He is survivied by his children, Skipper (Tasy) Burley, Sperry (Renee) Burley and Surreyann (Kele) Alaibilla; grandchildren, Seneca, Sera and Shelbie Burley; Sydnie, Steeler and Syren Burley, Ryan and Taylor Robbins Parongao; great-grandchildren, Slader and Sailen Burley, Skyleigh Gonsalves, Ryder K Parongao and Cash Burley Daly.
Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kalaheo Ward (2 Kaumuali’i Hwy, Kalaheo) on Saturday, September 29, with visitation at 9am and services at 11am. Burial will take place at Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe immediately following the services. Aloha attire suggested.

Edwin Flagg Nilson Jr., 57, of Kapaa, passed away at Hale Kapuna Heritage Home on Aug. 22, 2018. He was born in Hawaii on Jan. 26, 1961, and was previously employed by Kauai Easter Seals as an accountant.
Preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Flagg Nilson Sr and Lydia Low Brown Nilson.
Edwin is survived by his siblings; numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018, at Immaculate Conception Church with viewing from 8 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens. Iris E. Palama Hornstine, 91 years old of Kalaheo, Kauai passed away on Aug. 23, 2018, at her home in Kalaheo. Born on May 4, 1927, in Kalaheo, Kauai, she was a retired teacher at Haynes Street School, Canoga Park & Lockhurst Drive School in Woodland Hills, California.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Martin H. Hornstine; father, Philip K. Palama, Sr.; mother, Hisako K. Palama; brother, Philip K. Pamala, Jr.
She is survived by her sons, Ralph (Jordene) Hornstine of Koloa, Philip M. Hornstine of Kalaheo; daughter, Lynn (Thayne) M. Taylor of Kalaheo; grandchildren, Ikaika, Jolene (Ben), Kauai (Lindsey), Kimo and Joy (Kainoa); great-grandchildren, Piilani, Kanai, Kieryn, Kailiponi, Kekai and Kamoana; sister, Violet Kuulei P. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Lucille Momi Alapai; grandfather, Masami Kuwamura and Richard Seshiki.
