Elizabeth Kapeka Kaauamo Azeka
Elizabeth Kapeka Kaauamo Azeka, 90 years old, of Hanapepe, Kauai, passed away on Aug. 22, 2018, at her home in Hanapepe. Born on May 16, 1928, in Hana, Maui, she was a Tour Escort with Grayline’s.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Norimi Azeka; parents, Solomon and Cecilia Kaauamo; brothers, Michale Kaauamo, Kamaka Kaauamo, Ekela Kaauamo; sister, Maryann Shimatsu.
She is survived by her son, Malcolm S. (Trudy) Azeka of Hanapepe; daughters, Haunani (Jeff) Seward of Hanapepe, Joy (Tom) Canute of Hanapepe, Debra (Robert) Ruiz of Waimea, Romaine (William) Oliveira of Nahiku, Maui; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Solomon (Kuulei) Kaauamo, Jr. of Keanae, Maui, Herman (Lynette) Kaauamo of Keanae, Maui, Radford Kaauamo of Keanae, Maui, Jimmy Kaauamo of Keanae, Maui; sisters, Christina Seto of Eleele, Kauai, Emily (Kamalana) Kalalau of Hana, Maui, Leihulu Haugen, Pauline (Paul) Sinenci of Pukalani, Maui, Jeanette Kaauamo of Makawao, Maui; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo from 9 to 10:15 a.m. where Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. There will be an inurnment to follow at Kauai Veterans cemetery. The family suggest aloha attire.

Bruce James Medeiros
Bruce James Medeiros, born to Patrick and Lorraine Medeiros of Koloa, on Sept. 5, 1961, was called home by our Heavenly Father on Saturday. Aug. 11, 2018, at the age of 56.
He was preceded in death by his father, Patrick Louis Medeiros; mother, Lorraine Cremer Medeiros; brother, Patrick “Patta” Medeiros.
He is survived by his three children, son, Blake Medeiros; daughters, Sasha (Clancy) Doorish, and Carlie Medeiros; grandson, Clancy Doorish Jr.; grandaughter, Sophia-Lorraine Doorish; sister, Denise Medeiros; brothers, Russell (Marlo) Medeiros, Robin (Joy) Medeiros, Jarrett (Starley) Medeiros; numerous aunties, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, who all enjoyed spending time with.
A Celebration of his life will be on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, at Poipu Beach Pavilion, 10 to 11 a.m. viewing, 11 a.m. Celebration Service and Lunch Kanikapila Style at noon. We will have a Waterslide for the Keiki. The family suggest casual aloha beach wear and flowers omitted.
Brian Nishimoto
Brian Nishimoto, 85 years old, of Lihue, Kauai, passed away on Sept. 5, 2018, at his home in Lihue, Kauai. He was born on July 31, 1933, in Honolulu, and was retired as a former planning director of the County of Kauai and chief engineer for the Hawaii Community Development Authority.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Eva Nishimoto; parents, Ichiro and Masako Nishimoto; brothers, George and Edwin Nishimoto.
He is survived by his sons, Eric Nishimoto of Honolulu, David Nishimoto of Lihue; daughter, Karen (Mark) Joto of Lihue; grandchildren, Travis Nishimoto Kellie Joto; brother, Joseph Nishimoto of Honolulu; sister, Emma (Masa) Koshiro of Honolulu; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai from 4 to 4:45 p.m. where services will be celebrated at 5 p.m. The family suggest casual attire and flowers omitted.

Stewart Vine “Stu” Burley, 83, of Lawai, Kauai, passed away at home on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on Feb. 26, 1935, in Binghamton and retired from PMRF after 47 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his wife, of 52 years, Ku’uipo Gail Kaiwa Burley; his parents, Dexter Vine Burley and Margaret Robbins Stewart Burley; brother, Richard A. Burley of Phoenix, AZ.; his in-laws, Edward Baba and Ida Kaiwa of Kekaha.
He is survivied by his children, Skipper (Tasy) Burley, Sperry (Renee) Burley and Surreyann (Kele) Alaibilla; grandchildren, Seneca, Sera and Shelbie Burley; Sydnie, Steeler and Syren Burley;, and Ryan and Taylor Robbins Parongao; great-grandchildren, Slader and Sailen Burley, Skyleigh Gonsalves, Ryder K Parongao and Cash Burley Daly.
Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kalaheo Ward (2 Kaumuali’i Hwy, Kalaheo) on Saturday, Sept. 29, with visitation at 9 a.m. and services at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe immediately following the services. The family suggest aloha attire.

Glenn Kaopua Kaulukukui Jr.
Glenn Kaopua Kaulukukui Jr., 67, of Kapaa passed away at home on July 3, 2018. He was born on Oahu, on March 14, 1951. He was a professional surfer and surf instructor.
Preceded in death by his mother, May L Wright and brother, Fred Kaulukukui.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Kathy Kaulukukui; children, Kaiea Kaulukukui, Winter Baker, Nicolas Lester, Kalani Rowland, James Fleming; 3 grandchildren; father, Glenn Kaulukukui Sr., siblings, Roddy (Gina) Kaulukukui, John Kaulukukui, Moses (Michelle) Kaulukukui-Palisbo, Douglas Kaulukukui, Kainoa Kaulukukui, Kanani (Carl) Moore, Juliana (Gabriel) Tennberg, Fabian (Anacleto) Kaulukukui-Heloca; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at 3 p.m. at Pine Trees beach in Hanalei. Please join Kathy and Glenn’s children for a pot luck together after the paddle out.

Esmenia “Oding” Pascual Pascua, 87 years old, of Eleele, Kauai, passed away on Sept. 11, 2018, at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital Long Term Care. Born on Aug. 25, 1931, in the Philippines, she was a retired housekeeper.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jaime Pascua; parents, Esteban and Sabina Labayog Pascual.
She is survived by her sons, Rodney (Jan) Pascua of Kalaheo, Edwin (Mely) Pascua of Eleele; daughters, Eveline (Roger) Corpuz of Eleele, Delia (Allen) Tumbaga of Eleele; grandchildren, Bryson (Hosanna) Tumbaga, Cyrus (Beverly) Tumbaga, Jaimie (Severino) Pascua, James (Jaimie ) Pascua and Tiana Pascua; great-grandchildren, Jayvier and Sylas Butay, Xaileia Hoopii and Marley Jay Pascua and Evelia Tumbaga; sister, Magdalena Pascual Agbayani; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Samuel P. Pangdan, 68 years old, of Kilauea, Kauai, passed away on Sept. 1, 2018, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. He was born on May 1, 1950, in the Philippines.
He is survived by his wife, Brigida Pangdan; son, Samuel (Zenaida) Pangdan, Jr.; 3 grandchildren; brother, Benito (Cresencia) Pangdan; sisters, Noemi (Arlene) Illastron, Lucia (Marcelino) Tabuli, Jr.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, Sept. 28, 2018, at the family’s home at 50741-C Kuhio Highway, in Kilauea, from 5: to 9 p.m. and again on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018, at Kilauea New Hope Church from 8 to 8:45 a.m. where services will be celebrated at 9 a.m.
There will be a burial to follow at St. Catherine’s Church Cemetery. The family suggest casual attire.

Edwin Flagg Nilson Jr., 57, of Kapaa, passed away at Hale Kapuna Heritage Home on Aug. 22, 2018. He was born in Hawaii on Jan. 26, 1961, and was previously employed by Kauai Easter Seals as an accountant.
Preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Flagg Nilson Sr. and Lydia Low Brown Nilson.
Edwin is survived by his siblings; numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018, at Immaculate Conception Church with viewing from 8 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.
