Charles ‘Charlie’ Franklin Soto Sr.,
Charles “Charlie” Franklin Soto Sr., 72, of Kapaa, Kauai, passed away on July 12, 2018, at Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital. He was born on May 31, 1946, in Lihue, Kauai, and was a retired landscaper.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cataline Carley Soto and Rose Mary Soto; sister, Barbara Soto.
Charles is survived by wife, Barbara Jean Soto of Kapaa, Kauai; brother, Michael Soto of Eleele, Kauai; sisters, Mabel Laysa of Wahiawa, Oahu; Lorraine Rodrigues and Betty Colobong of Lihue, Kauai; son, Charles (Michelle) Soto Jr. of Waianae, Oahu; daughter, Venus Kanoho of Anahola, Kauai; son-in-law, Burl Kanoho of Warrenton, Oregon; grandchildren, Joshua Dasalia-Soto, Charles Franklin Soto III, Clifton Dasalia, Zaelynn Soto, Eusebio Dasalia-Soto of Kapaa, Kauai; Carley Awong of Orem, Utah; Kawika Soto, Nalani-Jean Soto of Waianae, Oahu; Chynoa Kanoho of Anahola, Kauai; Burl Kanoho Jr., Ashley-Rose (Tim) Kanoho-Ueland, Cyrus Kanoho and Anela Kanoho of Warrenton, Oregon; hanai grandchild, Kande Wong of Hanamaulu, Kauai; great-grandchildren, Joseph-Charles Kaneholani-Soto, Jo’zaevaleh Kaneholani-Soto of Koloa, Kauai, Zander Kanoho-Ueland, Karli-Rose Kanoho-Ueland and Phoenix Kanoho-Ueland of Warrenton, Oregon; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018, at Lydgate Beach Park with services beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Wallace Jitsuo Nakamura
Wallace Jitsuo Nakamura, 80 years old, of Eleele, Kauai, passed away on July 24, 2018, in Waimea, Kauai. Born on May 16, 1938, in Waimea, Kauai, he was a retired auto parts sales man and also served in the United States Army
He is preceded in death by his parents, Sensuke and Tami Nakamura; step-mother, Misao, Nakamura; sister, Kazue Moriwake; brother, Richard Nakamura.
He is survived by his wife, Yumiko Nakamura; sons, James Nakamura, David (Kayde) Nakamura; grandchildren, Aiden and Elyse Nakamura; brother, Riachard Nakamura; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Sunday August 19, 2018 at Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai from 1:30 pm to 2:45 p.m. where services will be at 3 p.m. Inurnment will be at the Lawai Cemetery.

Dexter James Takashima
Dexter James Takashima, 67 years old, of Kekaha, Kauai, passed away on July, 22, 2018, at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital. Born on Nov. 9, 1950, in Wilcox Memorial Hospital, Dexter was a tele communications officer with Kauai Police Department and Master Sergeant and also with the United States National Guard.
He is survived by his wife, Ku’ulei Takashima of Kekaha; daughters, Joslyn Wong of Kekaha, Michelle Kinimaka-Aranio of Kekaha, Kristen Takashima of Kekaha; grandchildren, Ashtin Kinimaka-Aranio, Koa Wong, Keanu Wong, Kamu Kinimaka-Aranio; parents, Lester and Hanae Takashima; brother, Galvin Takashima of Tennesse; sister, Mona Kitasue of California; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friend may visit with the family on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018, at St. Theresa’s Church From 10 to 10:45 a.m. where Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Rosary will be at 9:30 a.m.

Teruko Umetsu, 93 years old, of Kapaa, Kauai, passed away on July 27, 2018, at Hale Kapuna Heritage Home. Born on Sept. 5, 1924, in Kapahi, Kauai, he was a retired billing clerk with Wilcox Hospital.
He is preceded in death by her husband, Kichiro Umetsu, Gordon Umetsu; daughter, Lynette Umetsu.
He is survived by her son, Calvin (Donna) Umetsu of Eleele, Kauai; daughters, Carol (Allan) Aceret of Las Vegas, Nevada, Gail (Larry) Lee of Wailua, Kauai, Lisa (Kenneth) Kimura of Wailua, Kauai; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brothers, Shigeru (Yuriko) Miyasato of Kapahi, Kauai, Shinao (Aiko) Miyasato of Honolulu, Oahu; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2018, at Kapaa United Church of Christ from 3:30 p.m. And services will be celebrated at 4 p.m.

Rosaline Bernadette Esona
Rosaline Bernadette Esona, 77 years old, of Kilauea, Kauai, passed away on July, 24, 2018, at Straub Hospital. Born on June, 12, 1941, in Honolulu, Hawaii, she was a retired housekeeper.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Emilio and Annie Lanoza; brothers, John and James Figueroa, Albert and Emilio, Jr. Lanoza; sister, Bernice Figueroa.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond Esona; son, Michael Esona; brother, Bill Lanoza; hanai-daughter, Sharnell Woodward; hanai-son: Tristan Espinosa; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friend may visit with the family on Friday, Aug. 17, 2018, at Kauai Veterans Center in Lihue from 9 to 9:45 a.m. where services will be celebrated at 10 a.m.
