HONOLULU — Saint Francis School, a private Catholic institution in Honolulu, will be led by a man for the first time in its 94-year history.
The Saint Francis Board of Directors selected Honolulu native Casey M. Asato as the new head of school after a nationwide search. He will succeed Sister Joan of Arc Souza, who stepped down in June after 27 years.
In a statement, Asato says he wants Saint Francis to become “a world class college preparatory school in which students are pursuing their interests, they’re engaged with their learning and they find meaning and purpose through their contributions to society.”
Asato will replace Souza’s interim replacement, Assistant Principal Erin Marshall.
Saint Francis, which transitioned to a coed campus in 2006, has an enrollment of about 440 girls and boys.
