Water conservation request issued for Haena, Wainiha

HAENA — The Department of Water has issued an immediate water conservation request for customers in Haena and Wainiha due to an electrical power outage affecting the area’s pump station and well site.

Customers are asked to limit their water use to essential uses only; such as cooking, flushing and sanitation use, in order to avoid a full water outage.

Customers in the affected area should continue water conservation measures until the conservation request has been lifted, the press release said.

You think the Kauai county was smart enough to request either the Air National Guard or Army National Guard to hook up a mobile generator to keep those water pumps working as we did during Hurricane Iniki. But apparently its incompetence (Mayor Cavalho) thought his election campaign meant more than people of Kauai.
