Fifteen crews will represent Kauai at this year’s state regatta.
The Hawaii Canoe Racing Association will take place Saturday at Ke’ehi Lagoon at Oahu.
Of the crews representing the Kauai Outrigger Association, Niumalu Canoe Club has the most with nine.
Niumalu will race in the girls U13, boys 14U, boys 15U, girls and boys 16U, girls and boys 18U, men’s sophomore and men’s Open 4 races.
Kilohana Canoe Club will send three crews for the boys 12U, mixed 12U and boys 13U races.
Pu’uwai will race in the girls 12U race, Koloa will compete girls 14U race, and Hanalei will compete in the girls 15U race.
The KOA island championship regatta took place July 21 in Hanalei.
Hanalei won the AAA division (18+ crews), Niumalu won the AA division (9-17 crews), Kukuiula won the A division (8 crews or less), and Kilohana won the Na Opio division (keiki).
