KALAHEO — The Warriors Volt advance to the boys seventh grade division championship game following its 47-23 win over the Hotshots on Monday night during the youth basketball summer league games at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
The Warriors Volt relied on the balanced attack by Syrus Delos Reyes and Justin Gummerus, who each dropped 10 points. Hekili Dizol added nine points for the win over the Hotshots, who got eight points from Christopher Alicante and seven points from Lindcey Constantino.
The playoff was one of four games contested in Kalaheo.
Olivia Malafu took the lead in the second matchup when she netted 15 points to lead the Dream Team to a 24-17 edge over Westside Blue in a girls seventh grade matchup. Following Malafu, Lele Gonsalves added eight points to the win. Hailey Mata topped the Westside scoring with six points.
Kailana Pia-Salvador scored all of the Dream Team’s points in its 19-4 loss at the hands of the Rebels in a girls fifth grade match. Mikylah Labanon led the Rebels with 12 points.
Rhenz Panzalan grabbed the spotlight in the finale, a boys fifth grade division game, where the Hotshots edged out the Rebels, 16-15. Panzalan netted five points to lead the effort. Kekila Kealoha finished with a game-high nine points in the Rebels’ effort.
Games in the youth basketball program continue Thursday at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center with four games on tap starting at 5:30 p.m.
Games move to the Southside Sports Center in Koloa on Saturday with five games on tap starting at 8:30 a.m.
