Stacie Chiba-Miguel is hoping the rain stays away Saturday because The Shops at Kukuiula will host their Cruise and Show Classic Cars exhibit, presented by Harvey Maeda and the Kauai Classic Cars in the Bubba’s Burgers parking lot from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Harvey had his ‘32 Ford on display during the Kauai Culinary Market, where Dustin Stonner of Uncle D’s discovered he could be productive between the customer surges, and Ku‘ulei Breen had the perfect answer for the weather — cowboy chili or gazpacho, a cold soup, and Jennifer Ortal had just enough “coconut donuts” to sell out just before the market ended.

Kudos to the many (!!!) hands who turned out Wednesday to help pack the more-than-1,700 bags of school supplies (yes, Melissa McFerrin-Warrack, they need water!) for the Fourth annual Back to School Bash at Kukui Grove Center Saturday from 9 a.m. (Stacie said Helaine Perel is going to represent A&B Hawaii and Kukuiula since she has the car show). Kudos to Divina Plowman and the Kauai High School student government team (“historian” Tiffany Sagucio is thinking of studying journalism at the University of Hawaii at Manoa so she doesn’t need to travel far), and despite Mary Lardizabal of the Kapaa Middle School Choir and Ukulele Band being on the Mainland, her parent volunteers showed up to help along with Leona Perez of the Kauai Independent Food Bank.
Don’t forget — free school supplies giveaway (while supplies last!) and much more Saturday at the Back to School Bash!
