MANA — Native Kauaian Kaulana Finn begins her new job at the U.S. Navy Pacific Missile Range Facility at Barking Sands Monday as PMRF’s director of public affairs.
Until recently and since March 2013, Finn served as constituent services representative for U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-2, representing rural Oahu and the Neighbor Islands. Since May 2010 she also served as regional director for Kauai Big Brothers Big Sisters in Lihue.
As PMRF PAO she will provide communication and public information services and lead PMRF’s community outreach on behalf of PMRF’s commanding officer Capt. Vinnie Johnson and as part of the Navy Region Hawaii public affairs team.
“We’re delighted Kaulana chose to join our ohana,” Johnson said. “She has not only superior skills and talents as a communicator, but also a wonderful heart and the love for the people and aina. For Kaulana there’s likely to be one degree of separation with our friends and families on the Westside of Kauai.”
Finn, who was born and raised on Kauai, graduated from Waimea High School in 1989, has a sociology degree from the University of Hawaii, and completed Leadership Kauai training in 2011.
