Army’s Warrior Competition underway

FORT SHAFTER — The 2018 U.S. Army Pacific Best Warrior Competition got underway Monday at locations on Schofield Barracks.

At the end of the rigorous competition a Soldier of the Year and Noncommissioned Officer of the Year will be selected, and earn the honor to represent U.S. Army Pacific in the national Army competition later this year. The Pacific winners will be announced Friday.

U.S. Army Pacific traditionally celebrates the Army’s birthday with Pacific Theater Army Week and kicks things off with the Best Warrior Competition.

U.S. Soldiers from Hawaii, Alaska, Korea and Japan are testing their Army aptitude by conquering urban warfare simulations, board interviews, physical fitness tests, written exams, Warrior tasks and battle drills relevant in today’s operating environment.

The elite event has been described as the Super Bowl of Army competitions. Competitors represent the top soldiers of the various regional commands of U.S. Army Pacific, and come together each year during this time to see who is the best of the best.
