Nothing much gets done on Kauai
The biggest joke on Kauai is that the legislators are getting things done (TGI, Our View, May 29).
I have been going to Kauai for last 22 years, four months at a time. I have never seen a place as beautiful as Kauai with such awful infrastructure and here is the key point: nothing ever gets done, Kauai is pathetic when it comes to getting things done. Nothing ever happens.
We know many permanent residents on Kauai who just laugh at what an awful place it has become for infrastructure, etc.
I will give you just one example: Coco Palms. But there are hundreds more. The roads are a mess, the bridges. We like Anini, but they lawn mow the park once every three months. What’s that about?

Safety rail was needed
Mahalo to Parks and Recreation Director Lenny Rapozo and talented crew for installing the desperately necessary safety rail alongside the mauka sidewalk fronting the Kilauea Neighborhood/Senior Center. We wobbly seniors appreciate lessening the risk of falling down into that gully.
And, belatedly, interfaith council of churches volunteers who so warmly greet and deliver delicious Thanksgiving meals to us homebound, isolated seniors.

Dave, your letter reminded me of the storm grate across the street from Foodland in Kapaa. How many years was that annoying hole there? That little park in Niumalu only gets the lawn mowed about once a year.
It’s embarrassing that a tourist notice that Kauai infrastructure and public beach never been maintain.
