The first college level course dedicated to K-pop and J-pop is available this summer at UH Manoa. Jayson Chun, an associate professor at UH West Oahu will be teaching with Dr. Patrick Patterson this summer their class ASAN 464 K-pop and J-pop: Korean and Japanese Popular Music and Society. The class runs from May 21 through June 15 at Sakamaki SIZ-D103 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon for 3 credits.
Chun’s fall semester class at UH West Oahu filled up within a week so the summer class is a great option to have and there are still openings available. Learn, examine and analyze why K-pop and J-pop are popular and its cultural influences with its global appeal.
I hope to sit in a class this summer or in the fall semester. For more information on signing up for class, contact: Asian Studies Office: 956-6085 or Jayson Chun at firstname.lastname@example.org.
