LIHUE — Ansaldo Honolulu JV (Joint Venture), provider and operator of trains and systems for the Honolulu Rail Transit Project, announced it is making two, $5,000 donations to aid in the disaster relief efforts for the victims of both the flooding on Kauai and the volcanic eruptions on the Big Island.
On Kauai, the $5,000 Ansaldo donation will be made to Hawaii Life Charitable Fund. The funds will then be given to the American Red Cross on Kauai and Malama Kauai to help in immediate recovery efforts.
On the Big Island, the $5,000 will be made through The Salvation Army, in which 100 percent of the donated funds will support The Salvation Army’s Emergency Disaster Services in Hawaii.
Ansaldo Managing Director Dr. Enrico Fontana expressed the company’s concerns for Neighbor Island families.
“It is our hope that relief efforts on both islands will aid residents as they try to normalize their daily lives,” said Fontana.
“We always hear about Hawaii and its small communities. But it’s in times like these when you see the community come together and support one another through manpower and financial support that you really see the bonds that create this special place,” said Mealoha Kraus, chair of the Hawaii Life Charitable Fund. “Through our families, neighbors and businesses we are all in this together.”
“We are grateful to Ansaldo Honolulu JV for their support of The Salvation Army’s EDS efforts to assist those impacted by the Puna lava flow,” said Lt. Micheal Stack, Emergency Disaster Services coordinator for The Salvation Army Hawaiian &Pacific Islands.
Ansaldo Honolulu — a Hitachi Group JV between Ansaldo STS and Hitachi Rail Italy — is designing and building trains and systems for the Honolulu Rail Transit Project.
Ansaldo and its 300 local employees will soon operate the Honolulu System between East Kapolei and Ala Moana Center, and move thousands of people fast, safely and in full comfort along the corridor.
Big deal, these Rail contractors, when in fact they are getting paid by you the taxpayers in the tune of $billions! It is your money for a insane project sucking so much, that other much needed upgrades in the form of new water main pipes, roads, schools are all being impacted by Rail. That “donation” is manini
