Jamba Juice crew of Kara Lindsey-Bird, Mark Bonilla and Shannan Eifort get another batch of Watermelon Splash samples ready for the Keiki Day vendors Thursday.

Mark Bonilla of Jamba Juice (they’re a sponsor) is welcomed by vendors of the Keiki Day edition of The Garden Island, including, from left Paige Javier, Marie Vorsino of Oahu, Sara Miura and Brianne Santa Ana.

Marie Vorsino flew in from Oahu to help sell Keiki Day editions of The Garden Island newspaper at Kukui Grove Center.

Kudos to Paige Javier and her Parents And Children Together ohana on the 50th anniversary of PACT! Paige and a lot of community-minded VIPs (Patricia Wistinghausen got her grandpa Larry Rivera to do sales too!) were out selling the Keiki Day edition of The Garden Island newspaper (how many copies did Audrey Bonilla get?), Thursday (Happy birthday, Tony Pantil!) at locations around the island (Lucia Baase even walked from Kukui Grove to Lihue Pharmacy and Hawaii Home Infusion and back).

All of that was part of the excitement at Kukui Grove Center (even Melissa McFerrin-Warrack took her turn selling Keiki Day issues) who is in the midst of May madness (Sara Miura could see the social media Graduation frame at Deja Vu, too) that started when Jennifer Ortal led all the KUGA performers in sewing lei and making Teacher Appreciation Day (Friday is the last day Jack in the Box is offering teachers free cups of regular or iced coffee). And mahalo to Mark Bonilla of Jamba Juice, who brought out samples of Watermelon Splash for the vendors!

Tonight, Kristi Gibbs of Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School opens a student art showcase (yarn bombing? felted rocks? Leslie Frasier is not dealing with the cold bug this year) in the Kauai Society of Artists gallery for one week (check it out before it disappears).

OK, time to go check out Gary Ellwood and the Kauai Community College commencement (that’s another fancy word for graduation) exercises at the Vidinha Stadium…yikes, graduation is already here (the high schools do theirs on May 25!) and it’s not even Mother’s Day.
