Hawaii Life leads fund drive

Susan Higgins of Hawaii Life said they tracked the storm on their cell phone.

“We watched it all the way,” Higgins said. “It kept circling around the North Shore area, and when it finally broke away, it dumped on Koloa.”

Higgins was manning the Kauai Flood Relief donation drive at The Shops at Kukuiula.

Hawaii Life offered to match cash contributions to $25,000.

“We had a great response,” said Stacie Chiba-Miguel, senior property manager at Alexander & Baldwin. “Hawaii Life raised $15,300 and matched $15,300, which will be distributed between the American Red Cross and Malama Kauai for flood relief for the island.”

The drive included a table manned by Poipu Beach Resort Association staff specifically for relief for Koloa flood victims.
