The Eleele Pedestrian Bridge over Kaumualii Highway is closed until further notice due to damage from a vehicle hitting the structure, according to the Hawaii Department of Transportation.
Kaumualii Highway is open and returned to normal traffic flow in both directions as repair work to the Eleele Pedestrian Bridge was completed about 1 p.m. today.

HDOT also closed a lane of Kaumualii Highway at mile marker 16 near the Eleele Shopping Center to remove any debris or loose material from the pedestrian bridge that was struck earlier this morning. The lane closure started at 11 a.m. Alternating traffic control was in place.
HDOT reported the incident shortly before 10 a.m. Wednesday.
