Several Easter egg hunts are scheduled this week. They include:
• The West Kauai Lions Club will host its annual Easter Egg program on April 1 starting at 8:30 a.m. at the basketball court at the Kekaha Ball Field.
Children will be groups by age with the 2 years and under being the first group to start. This will be followed by the 3 to 4 year olds, the 5 and 6 year olds, and then, the 7 to 12 year olds.
“The Lions will be boiling and coloring at least 30 dozen, or 1,800 eggs, Saturday to prepare for the Sunday hunt,” said Eric Nordmeier of the WK Lions. “We have been doing this hunt at the Kekaha Ball Field for more than 17 years. Prior to moving to Kekaha, we hosted the egg hunt in Hanapepe for many years. This would not be possible without the help of the Lions, their family members, friends, and the Waimea High School Leo Club.”
• Hop to The Shops at Kukuiula for their annual Easter Egg Hunt, Wednesday during the Kauai Culinary Market, a partnership with the Kauai County Farm Bureau.
Keiki activities start at 4 p.m. in the Palm Court area, and the Easter Egg Hunt takes place at 5 p.m. The Easter Bunny is expected to pay a visit and people can have photos with the special guest following the hunt.
This year’s Easter Egg Hunt will feature an opportunity to catch golden eggs containing extra special prizes.
• This is no April Fool’s joke, said Pastor Matt Higa of New Hope Kauai.
“Believe it, or not, we will have 7,000 eggs for the Easter Egg Hunt on Easter Sunday starting at 9:30 a.m. at the Kapaa High School Upper campus,” Higa said. “We just love our keiki so much.”
There will be a pre-service free Hawaiian concert featuring Keli‘i Kaneali‘i of Hapa, and friends followed by the New Hope Kauai Easter Service, and the Easter Egg Hunt.
A free luau, with tickets being distributed during the service, ends the morning.
