Can someone please get Joe Biden to stop speaking in public? Please?
And someone please get President Donald Trump to stop responding to every comment that comes his way?
While we admire Biden’s career in politics and are sorry for the loss of his son, Biden’s recent rant was nothing short of ridiculous and embarrassing. It was out of line and sends exactly the kind of message this country doesn’t need. Two-year-olds display more maturity. Someone, please remind Joe he’s 75 and the former vice president and should display some grace and class rather than pretending he’s still 18.
OK. So what did he say that was so upsetting it deserved to be called out in an editorial in TGI?
The Democrat spoke Tuesday at an anti-sexual assault rally at the University of Miami, according to the Associated Press.
Biden says he would “beat the hell” out of Trump if they were in high school together and Trump disrespected women.
“A guy who ended up becoming our national leader said, ‘I can grab a woman anywhere and she likes it,’” Biden says. “If we were in high school, I’d take him behind the gym and beat the hell out of him.”
Biden says any guy who disrespected women was “usually the fattest, ugliest S.O.B. in the room.”
Really. That’s the best advice Joe Biden can give to college students on how to deal with someone who does something they find offensive? Beat them up and call them names? Good solution. Way to go, Joe. Be sure to share that in your next run for office.
Unfortunately, Trump responded.
“Crazy Joe Biden is trying to act like a tough guy. Actually, he is weak, both mentally and physically, and yet he threatens me, for the second time, with physical assault. He doesn’t know me, but he would go down fast and hard, crying all the way. Don’t threaten people Joe!”
It would have been better to just let it go, rather than responding with more insults and threats. But then again, Trump just can’t let someone have the final word. In this case, he should have just walked away. Since this feud is about who’s the better man, a real man would shake hands with his opponent and wish him well. Nothing good can come of exchanging remarks about who would win a knockdown, dragout between two old men.
Thankful, Biden, by this time had come to his senses and didn’t respond.
It is beyond silly that two of this country’s political leaders would get cause up in such an childish exchange, especially when both are in the 70s, should know better and should act better. Then again, maybe not.
Still, Biden, as they say, started it. Sad at this point in what is otherwise a fine career, he couldn’t come up with anything better than condoning violence and insults. That’s really a positive message. What a role model.
We have students around the country leading the charge for national gun reform, people calling for peace, speaking of respect, and Joe Biden is giving lectures with amusing anecdotes about how he would beat up Trump in high school and then going further in his tirade to call out any guy who happens to be overweight and ugly because they clearly would disrespect women. We’re guessing, based on that logic, that good looking, fit guys would never insult a woman. That certainly makes sense. And this guy is thinking about running for president in 2020.
Please, say it ain’t so, Joe.
Can someone please stop TGI from writing silly editorials like this one? Please? Surely, there are more important, editorial-worthy subjects you can find . . . Say, here’s a thought: Donald Trump!
Well Joe has my vote.
Biden did a thorough qualification of his remark, as an imaginary setting that could not exist in order to dramatize a point. Even high schoolers can follow that; but trump (and you) apparently can’t, trump’s response was in the present, just like a fifth grader with similar language skills. trump once again becomes a pathetic embarrassment to our nation!
Many comments have been edited out since yesterday. I guess you only have a voice if you like creepy Joe. This man has lots of women problems as recently revealed.
Steve, what is silly for one reader may not be silly to another. Free speech bro. We read and hear what I think is stupid stuff daily on t.v. and news. So you should be used to hearing crazy, outlandish and yes, silly editorials. That seems to be the new norm in communications. I see a lot of politicians who I think their real ambitions were to be clowns. How else can you discrbe the nonsense and actions of nancy pelosi and Maxine Waters?
I have to agree. Whenever Biden opens his moth something stupid comes out. He’s been sited several times for disrespecting women but I guess he has forgotten about that. He is one creepy dude. I am not defending Trump against his accusations but go away Joe!
