KAPAIA — The county Department of Public Works Wastewater Division concluded sewer maintenance work on Kuhio Highway Sunday evening in the vicinity of the Kapaia Bridge.
A sewer spill was reported about 4:15 p.m. Saturday when a manhole cover overflowed.
Traffic in the area was reduced to one lane. The work was completed and both lanes were open for traffic by 6 p.m. Sunday.
The state Department of Transportation was also involved. The investigation into the cause of the spill is ongoing.
