The Hawaiian music program that’s been growing an increasingly large audience over the past 35 years during its winter sessions will once again rock Kauai.
On Monday, Lady Ipo Kahaunaele-
Ferreira and Kuhio Travis are the invited guests.
Lady Ipo, known islandwide for her sparkling performances of ukulele-
playing, hula, singing and emceeing, will instruct the 6 p.m. ukulele break-out circle.
Travis takes to the stage from 7 to 9 p.m. and fairly wails on his instrument, pairing it with his beautiful and powerful falsetto.
Travis, born and raised on Hawaii Island, has been singing and performing for over 24 years. Raised in Laupahoehoe, he lives on Oahu.
“I have been known to be incredibly passionate about my music but it’s passion that drives me,” he said. “My experiences through international means and domestic influences inspires me to play music, not only to make myself happy, but to share with all of you.”
This event, as with all EKK presentations this season, will be held in the Jasmine Ballroom of the Aqua Kauai Beach Resort.
Admission is a suggested donation of $10 at the door.
The EKK program this year continues on Monday nights through March 19, when the closing evening will be a ticketed concert featuring guest artist Makana performing for the benefit of EKK.
Tickets and pricing information for the Makana Concert is available at brownpapertickets.com. Some tickets are also made available at the Monday night sessions.
EKK is a program of the nonprofit Garden Island Arts Council.
