LIHUE — The Hawaii Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs 2018 State Youth of the Year event will be held on Thursday, March 15, at the Hawaii State Capitol.
The day-long event includes a speech and interview element and presentations on the House and Senate floors, culminating with a luncheon at The Plaza Club to announce the winner.
An expected 100 guests will be present to celebrate Boys and Girls Clubs youth who inspire others with their leadership, resilience and service to others.
The candidates from across Hawaii qualify for the state event by winning their local club competition. Both a traditional club and a military club Youth of the Year will be crowned.
The Youth of the Year winner will receive scholarship money and a chance to compete in the Pacific Region Youth of the Year competition.
The Hawaii Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs is a consortium of three nonprofit organizations: Boys & Girls Clubs of Hawaii (Oahu and Kauai), Boys & Girls Club of the Big Island, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Maui.
