KILAUEA — Lighthouse tours at the Daniel K. Inouye Kilauea Point Lighthouse will be temporarily suspended beginning today due to maintenance work. The maintenance is expected to be completed by March 30.
In 2013 the 100th anniversary of the lighthouse was celebrated and a newly-restored lighthouse was unveiled. However, harsh environmental elements quickly bring about rust and other weathering that requires on-going maintenance to keep the lighthouse in good condition.
The Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge will remain open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
