HONOLULU — The FBI is investigating four Honolulu police officers who are suspected of forcing a man to place his mouth on a urinal inside a public restroom.
Honolulu Police Chief Susan Ballard says an officer reported the suspected misconduct that occurred after the officers responded to a complaint of a person trespassing Sunday.
Ballard says the department referred the case to FBI on Wednesday following an initial internal investigation. The four officers were placed on restricted duty, but they have not been named.
According to the department, the officers have from three to 16 years of experience.
Ballard says she is “appalled at the behavior,” and the department will take appropriate action if the allegations are true.
