LIHUE — As part of the Corporation for National and Community Service special initiative for Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, senior corps members of Kauai Retired Senior Volunteer Program and the RSVP Advisory Council are leading a collection drive to benefit Kumu’s Cupboard, a store in Kukui Grove Center where Kauai educators can shop for free.
LIHUE — As part of the Corporation for National and Community Service special initiative for Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, senior corps members of Kauai Retired Senior Volunteer Program and the RSVP Advisory Council are leading a collection drive to benefit Kumu’s Cupboard, a store in Kukui Grove Center where Kauai educators can shop for free.
The drive will go through Jan. 26. Donations can be dropped off at the Kauai RSVP/ county Agency on Elderly Affairs office during normal business hours at 4444 Rice St., Suite 330.
There will also be a collection on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Times Supermarket and Kmart.
Suggested items for collection include school office supplies, materials for art and science projects, and student incentives such as stickers, books, games and small toys.
Kauai RSVP is a program of the Corporation for National and Community Service, the federal agency for volunteering, service and civic engagement, and is sponsored locally by AEA.
Kumu’s Cupboard is filled with school supplies, office supplies, books, teacher resources, materials for art, math, and science projects, and student incentives.
