Trump supporters greet tax law with shrugs and measured hope

AP Photo/Carrie Antlfinger In this Dec. 20, 2017 photo, Justin Dopierala sits in his home office of DOMO Capital Management, LLC in Germantown, Wisc. Anticipating the passage of the Republican tax plan, he said he spent $20,000 on business improvements over the last couple months, including a new website and marketing pitch book for potential clients, included in this photo. Dopierala expects to have a nearly $11,000 reduction in taxes on his $150,000 income. He said he generally votes for Republicans and voted for Trump, partly expecting he would pass a new tax plan.

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — Ask someone like Sam Banks about the tax plan President Donald Trump signed into law Friday, and you hear something other than the effusive joy Republicans in Congress put on display this week.
